How much in advance should I call for the pre-move survey?
It is advisable to pack goods separately in plywood liftvans to prevent items from mixing. If this is not possible, ensure each package is clearly marked with the customer’s name and package number. Using different colored packing tapes for each shipment is recommended, as small tags often fall off, leading to potential mix-ups. Additionally, record the make, model, and serial numbers of electronic goods on the packing list.
What type of goods can be imported under Groupage shipment?
Only household goods should be included in Groupage shipments. Commercial goods should not be included.
Which shipping liners are preferred for Groupage shipments?
Please book directly with major shipping lines such as Evergreen, Maersk, and P&O. Avoid booking through consolidators or freight forwarders, as the destination agent may impose high deconsolidation or delivery order fees for each client.
How many days in advance should documents be shared with Globe Moving
All documents should be submitted 14 days before the cargo arrives to allow for timely filing of the manifest with the shipping line. Late filing can incur significant fines and penalties.
What are the eligibility criteria for claiming Transfer of Residence (TR) concessions?
According to the latest Indian Baggage regulations, the following criteria must be met to claim TR concessions:
- A minimum stay of two years abroad, immediately before arrival on TR.
- No more than six months spent in India on short visits during the preceding two years.
- The concession has not been availed within the previous three years.
Are all my goods dutiable under Transfer of Residence?
No, personal effects and household goods such as furniture, clothes, books, kitchenware, and small appliances (e.g., mixer, juicer, iron) can be imported duty-free if they are old and used. Additionally, items listed in Annexure III are also duty-free.
