Q: How much in advance should I call for the pre-move survey?
Ans: You can call Globe Moving & Storage Co., at least 1-2 weeks prior to the move. This way we can plan your move better to make it a smooth one.

Ans: Usually no more than 30 minutes.
Q: What is the purpose of a survey?
Ans: We conduct a pre-move survey for the following reasons To Inspect your goods, Understand your needs, Identify delicate & valuable articles, Take measurements to calculate the volume of the goods, Assess manpower and materials requirements, Check facilities for loading, parking, movement of vehicles, etc. During the survey, Globe Moving & Storage Co. will also explain the moving process, clear your apprehensions, advise you on appropriate means of transport, schedule dates for packing & moving and most importantly help you plan your move more effectively
Q: How should I prepare myself for the pre-move survey?
Ans: Identify, the goods in your house and decide the articles you intend to carry, store, donate, leave behind etc.
Show all the items you intend to carry to the surveyor. This helps us in making a better and more accurate estimate.

Ask as many questions and clear all your doubts, however simple they may be.

Q: Will all my goods be crated?
Ans: Generally, only electronic goods, fragile items, glass/mirrors need to be crated. However, if you choose we can crate all the items you want.
Will you give us some cartons so that we can sort out our goods?
Yes, you can call us & we can deliver as many cartons as you want prior to the move.
Can I also pack my goods myself?
Ans: You can do this if you are good at it. However, please be aware of the potential problems. For instance, insurance companies will not pay out on goods packed by their owner. If you really must pack some of your goods, leave the cartons unsealed so that the Globe Moving & Storage Co. packing crew can inspect the contents, seal the cartons and make a note in the inventory.
Q: How long will the packing take?
Ans: Every home is different but a normal truckload of household effects (750 CFT) takes between two and three days for packing. This is based on a crew of three or four persons. Q: What are the items that I can take and can't take with me?

Ans: In general, you should think about what it would cost to replace your goods. When completing your insurance value, please be as detailed as possible. Q: Will somebody accompany the vehicle in Transit?
Ans: Yes, if required, one of the packers will accompany your goods to your destination. This person is known as an escort. An escort is useful because the packer who packed your goods at the origin will be there to assist you at your destination.
Q: Will my goods be unpacked at the destination?
Ans: Yes, we will assist you in unloading, unpacking, removal of debris and setting up your home.

Q: Do I have to pay any interstate taxes?
Ans: Generally, there are no Interstate taxes for used & old personal effects. However, in certain cities like Bombay, there are interstate taxes - which are generally very nominal. But for automobiles, these taxes are much higher.
Q: What are the documents required to move my personal effects?
Ans: To move your personal effects, we require a Packing list, Declaration for check post purposes and destination delivery address. If you are moving an automobile, we require copies of Registration documents, Insurance documents, Tax paid receipts & Emission certificates.
Q: Can I move my car?
Ans: Yes, we can move your car either in exclusive vehicles or co-loaded with other cars in Car Moving vehicles, depending upon your time & budget constraints. Irrespective of how the car is moved.
Q: What happens to my goods once they are packed and moved from my residence?
Ans: All goods are moved directly from door to door without any transhipment. However, for small volumes or part loads - the goods will be moved to our warehouse and clubbed with other goods before dispatch. At the destination, the goods will be moved to our warehouse and final delivery is done using local vehicles.

When the goods leave India, your goods will be physically opened & examined. Globe Moving will safely repack these goods for you (not feasible at all ports). At destination, depending upon the country you are shipping to, your goods may or may not be physically examined. In Europe & America, generally customs formalities mean only documentation and X-Ray. However, sometimes, random checks are done on personal effects. In such cases there will be an physical / extensive examination fee which is billed at cost. In other countries, generally your goods will be physically examined.

Also, Customs officials will almost certainly target goods that you have packed like locked suitcases.
