What is the lead time required by Globe Moving to carry out a survey and packing job?
We aim to be flexible and accommodate your schedule! Typically, we can conduct a pre-move survey within 1-2 business days of your request. Once the survey is complete and the moving plan is finalized, we can usually schedule packing within 1 to 2 weeks, depending on the size and complexity of your move.
How many days will it take to dispatch the household goods shipment once it is packed?
Goods can be dispatched only after we receive the departure certificate once shipper leaves the country. Once all necessary documents are in place, the goods are typically dispatched within 10 working days subject to booking confirmation from shipping lines/ airlines and customs clearance.
How long will the packing take?
For an average household of 2000 sq ft, packing usually takes 3-4 days with a crew of 4-5 people. If you are on a tight schedule, please inform us so we can coordinate accordingly.
What is the customs clearance timeline for export jobs?
Generally, it takes 2-3 business days for export customs clearance in India.
Are all goods physically examined for export shipments?
No, not all goods are physically examined. Customs officials typically conduct random inspections or may choose to inspect shipments based on risk assessment. Providing a clear and accurate packing list can help expedite the process.
Can the household goods shipment be loaded directly into the container at shipper’s residence?
No, generally this is permitted only for Diplomatic shipments.
Do you need original passport of the shipper for export customs clearance?
No, Original passport is not required for export customs clearance of household goods
Once the shipper leaves India, within how many days/months should the cargo be dispatched?
It is generally recommended to dispatch the shipment within 6 months of shipper’s departure.
Can shipper ship personal effects prior to their departure from India?
Yes, goods can be shipped before shipper’s departure, provided certain customs bonds are arranged or using your previous travel ticket which is less than 6months from your pack date requirement. Please consult us for more details.
Are there any items that cannot be exported from India?
Yes, certain items are prohibited or restricted for export, including antiques older than 100 years without proper clearance, endangered wildlife and products made from it, and certain cultural artifacts. Avoid shipping drugs, alcohol, weapons, ammunition, explosives, ivory, animal skins, sandalwood, pornography, gold, silver, and other prohibited items. Always check with us for an updated prohibited list of items.
Is it possible to include alcohol with household goods and personal effects?
No, only diplomats are permitted to export alcohol along with their household goods.
Will the Globe Moving Team dismantle furniture during packing, or do we need to hire a vendor?
The Globe Moving team can handle basic assembly and disassembly services. However, certain furniture items, like IKEA products and hydraulic beds, may require specialized tools and expertise. After the survey, our pricing team will inform you about any items that may need external handyman services and provide the associated costs, allowing you to make an informed decision.
